Q. Can females only carpool with other females?

Yes, Hitchman allows you to choose who you carpool. As a female, you can accept requests or send requests to other female carpoolers. Both car owners and riders have to agree for the carpool trip to happen. You can either send a request or get an invite to join a carpool.


Q. How much do I pay as a rider on Hitchman?

The trip cost is calculated by multiplying the trip rate with the distance from home to office. We use Google Maps to calculate the distance using your home and office pin location. Trip rates depend on the number of riders in the carpool and they go down as more riders join the carpool


Q. Are there any minimum fuel share charges payable to the car owner?

Yes, a minimum distance limit of 10 kilometers is applicable for the calculation of fuel share.


Q. Are there any starting, waiting, or peak factor charges?

There are no "starting", "waiting", or "peak factor" charges on Hitchman. Riders only pay based on the trip rate and their home to office distance.


Q. As a rider, does my fuel share/payment to car owners decrease when other riders join the carpool?

Yes, your fuel share decreases as more riders join the carpool group. As per our current standard package, the rate goes down to Rs.7/km when there are two riders in the carpool and goes down further to Rs.6/km when there are three riders in the carpool


Q. As a rider, how do I carpool on Hitchman?

After registering on the application and completing your carpool profile you have two options.


1) Browse through the “Find Carpool” list and send a request to the car owner to join their carpool. You can see all profile photos, home/office location, commute timings, and security ratings of the car owner and current riders, if any, in each carpool group


2) Get invites from car owners to join their carpool group. You can choose to accept or reject the request


Q. As a car owner, how do I carpool on Hitchman?

After registering on the application and completing your carpool profile you have two options.


1) Browse through the “Find Carpool” list and send a request to the car owner to join their carpool.
You can see all profile photos, home/office location, commute timings, and security ratings of the car owner and current riders, if any, in each carpool group


2) Get invites from car owners to join their carpool group. You can choose to accept or reject the request


Q. Can I get real-time or immediate carpool rides with Hitchman?

No, Hitchman currently does not offer a real-time carpooling option. Hitchman allows you to create a carpool group with other professionals where pickup timings in morning and evening timings are pre-decided


Q. I have a car. Can I register as a rider on the Hitchman?

Yes, it is recommended that you register as a rider even if you have a car and don’t need it at the office for fieldwork or visits. If you need your car during office hours, you can sign up as a car owner.
We want to reduce the number of cars on the road to reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution. You can play your part by leaving your car at home and hitching a ride with Hitchman.


Q. I am concerned about my privacy of the information on the app? How much information is shared with other users?

At Hitchman, we believe in protecting the privacy of our users. On your public profile, other users can only see your profile photo, home (street) location, office location, and security rating and send you carpool requests. You can check our terms and conditions and privacy policy


- For the home location, drop Google Map pin on the nearest street sign where you can be picked up or dropped off easily. We don’t require you to enter your house number in the home location. This protects your exact home location


- For office location drop Google Map pin on the building where you can be picked up or dropped off easily. We don’t require you to enter your office name in the office location. This protects your exact office and work details


- Upload selfie as a profile photo. We don’t require NIC verification until you find a match for carpool but you should upload a selfie or a clear professional photo that shows your face clearly. We don’t show your name on a public profile and other professionals will send you a request to carpool based on your profile photo


- Security Verification documents are not shared with the public. Professionals can upload additional documents and details on an app like driver’s license, car registration, business card, corporate email, etc. to increase their security rating. Once verified by our onboarding team, the security ratings are shown on the public profile
